The Reveller’s new venture

Many of the Blok M web site regular readers keep clamouring for updates and diaries, but I just haven’t got the time that I used to have. My game plan was to get the Blok M bars and discos to sponsor the web site so that I could afford to take on a lower-paid full time job that would give me plenty of free time for writing.

Alas, they said no. Which is a pity, as the Blok M site is their number one source of publicity, and is the international window for Blok M. With visitors from more than 140 countries, the statistics are impressive: more than 500 visits and upwards of 15,000 hits a day. The site is thriving.

Blogging is the solution. It’ll enable me to feed the news as it happens, which will provide an actuality that the regular updates and diaries lack, and spread the work load more evenly. Then, at the end of each month, I’ll consolidate the blog entries, add a wrapping and my afterthoughts – and voilà! an instant update.

  1. Great idea for fast updates. I’m looking forward to people posting photos! Can people post photos? e.g. photos held in photobucket or similar sites?

  2. Unfortunately visitors can’t link to photos in their comments. If anyone has a topical picture that’s relevant to one of the articles, they’re very welcome to email the picture (or the URL) to me for inclusion in a forthcoming article.

  3. Good luck with the new venture Rev.

I’m truly amazed at the tight fisted response from the bar owners, you have singlehandedly and without reward provided them with a fantastic shopwindow for them to sell their wares and for them to receive feedback from the most important people in their business, we the customers, yet they couldn’t stump up a few bob to help defray your expenses. Tells you all you need to know about their business sense and why the customers are falling away in their droves.

  6. This site is what made me decide to come to Jakarta for vacation. I will be there the end of July. I also plan to visit most of the bars posted on this site and spend money in those bars. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your cause. I believe these bars should be paying you for this service. I also want to thank you. I have never been to Indonesia and I know this site will help me have a good vacation.

  8. I’d just like you to know that the ‘sticky side’ still does your laundry at very agreeable prices
and that pub quizzes are still extant.

  9. Couldn\’t agree more with Harry Flashman\’s comments and so well put. I salute your doggedness and commitment to giving the whole bloody world, including we paupers here, a unique, exclusive and updated data centre for the one and only Blok M ( sorry to my Jaksa loving mates)
Apropos the stingy gits that coin it in, perhaps you could do a bar rating (quantitative) as well as the inimitable and learned qualitative score sheet on the fanny that we have all grown to love ( I mean grown to love your score sheet, of course….)
I owe you a beer or two on behalf of us all for this great resumption of service – you can collect anytime
    Bill
