Thursday 6 July

The week that wasn’t

Knackered

What a week! Faced with a heavy workload and oodles of unpaid overtime I only manage to escape to Blok M on Thursday night – and then for the briefest of encounters. Top Gun is very quiet, so I enjoy the solitude and down a couple of bottles whilst waiting for a game of pool. It seems that many of the regulars are AWOL because of the football – keeping up with the live games requires them to keep vampire hours, which only the hardiest can stand for more than a few days at a time.

So it’s off home early, for a mug of hot cocoa and a dip into one of my favourite novels, The Ambassadors by the inimitable Henry James. As I drift off to sleep I look forward to the weekend, and of course my next foray into the Blok.
