The story of the obscene comments gets curiouser and curiouser. Six messages came from one IP address, but I suspect that at least two people were involved. Linguistic analysis leads me to believe that one of them is from the UK, the other a non-western expat. Both display poor command of English and low educational attainment, but there are cultural differences in the abuse. One contains typically working-class British insults, but the other is more Asian in style and content. There may be a third person involved who is more intelligent than these two individuals, and has attempted to dumb his language down to disguise his education and regional origins.

One question: are those comments in your blog real and where the people was from? Indonesian or expat?

I only get to Jakarta (and to the Blok) but once every two years and miss it daily. I enjoy your perspective - and your documenting the rise and fall and rise again of the mainstay establishments, e.g.; Top Gun. I hope I never get so old I can’t enjoy the inhabitants of Blok M. thanks.
