The BLOK seems to be changing, , with a few new places opening up, what about the presence of the SYT's, are the new venues bringing them back Rev? The last time I visited the BLOK, about 3 months ago, there was a good sample in My Bar, on a Wed and Thurs nights, plenty of supply for everyone.
My next visit is booked for the 8th and 9th of January, after my R&R, and on my way back to West Papua, which is a real God forsaken place, so is it My Bar or one of the new places, what do you advise Rev. Obviously after a visit to the 6th Floor.

A quick scout round the bars this evening. Top Gun full (notwithstanding an out of tune band and fat moustachioed American singing on stage). M Bar completely empty, far too bright and air-conditioned. D's place almost empty. My bar - fairly empty but still no place to sit. Nothing else of note. I have to agree - a bar needs to have lots of seating and many dark corners, otherwise noone's going to stay very long.

I was a regular patron of D's Place from the soft opening onwards. I left when it hit rock bottom with its tasteless gimmicks, lousy music, excessive noise, sleazy VIP gambling den, and serious decline in the number and quality of Sweet Young Things.

While Darryl was at the helm things were fine - the rot set in when he went off to the USA and then put all his time and energy into the Beat in Kemang.

Whoever is ultimately responsible for the ruination of D's Place it had (and still has) Darryl's name on it. If he wants to make a successful comeback on the Blok he'll have an uphill task to restore punter confidence.

He would be well advised to start Highway with a clean slate and sort out (or buy out) the motley shower of shareholders who've run the D's show in his absence, and not let them have any say in the design or running of the new place.

It's Darryl's call, but I think he should cut out the tasteless tit-and-bum stuff, stop the incessant pestering of punters for 'donations' to lucky draws, and simply be there in the flesh most nights. My personal recommendation would be for him not to have a VIP sleaze-pit in the new place.

I've a lot of time for Darryl and I really hope that he can restore the tarnished Patten image.

Don't underestimate Darryl's ability to establish something well worth making your local on the Blok. He has an acute understanding of what it takes to attract and retain the right clientele with the right $$$. If he's back on the scene, business will follow quickly.

Ha, the place still looks the same on the inside as it did when lafonta opened about 10 years ago, plus some new video screens. It used to be a nice small disco opening for action hours before any mainstream disco would, boy i will never forget my waitress-girfriend there, Yani...

So, two new places on the street, i wonder what Daryl is upto, it looks almost as if he is reopening Betty's place ?
