I got to admit Reveller your innards must be made from cast iron. Good to see your still going. I write to you from darkest africa and thinking about glory days of the blok. Can you get it listed as a national heritage site so us deadbeats around the world know we got a refuge waiting for us. Our own elephants graveyard of sorts.

Aw, yes the sense of community….one of the little things I too dearly miss about Jakarta. That small town atmosphere feeling in such a large city. Reminds me of my old neighbors in Menteng or just about anywhere in Jakarta: Sometimes there’s love, sometimes there’s hate; but just about everyone has the kindness in the bottom of their hearts when it truly counts. Thanks Rev, for always sending us a friendly reminder of our beloved city in Southeast Asia.

Bravo, I especially enjoyed the second paragraph - why watch a movie like Blade Runner, when you can just get on a plane to Jakarta?

Funny how some cities can’t cope with a common occurance like rain.

Hi guys, great to see your regular postings Rev, you really know how to write your scrips, cannot wait to get a copy of your book when it is finished.

So not a lot of SYT about the bars, well I only use Top Gun, and its difficult to believe Top Gun not having a few take aways to suit my taste, never failed to please me yet. After a visit to the Sixth Floor in the afternoons, Top Gun really is the bar for me. A few games of pool, during which I always suss out my choice during the trips round the pool table, you get to view the girls whilst doing this, and there are always one or two that meet ones choice.

So another 35 days before my two nights and three days in the BLOK, a twelve weeks wait sure seems like a lifetime this time, but cannot wait to set foot into my favourite bar, although its always on Tueday and Wednesday nights, it never fails to meet demands, then two more nights on my way back after three weeks holiday back in the UK.

I was wandering Rev, I would love to enter your forum, but having lost my password etc, I have tried, but it will not let me enter, is there anything that I can do to rejoin friend.

It’s a fair question, but the answer is not a simple one. Cost is the main factor. The Sweet Young Things have quite simply priced themselves out of the market, and hotel room rates have risen remorselessly over the last couple of years.

Add to this the fact that there just isn’t the range of quality there used to be, and most of the girls have become very mercenary - making what used to be fun and games a mundane business transaction.

So the answer to your question is, yes, I’m more an observer than a doer in Blok M - but there are plenty more fish in the sea.

Rev, I keep coming back and reading your stuff, not because I’m particularly into Blok M, but more because I like your increasingly detailed stories of the chaotic journey to and from.

One thing I can’t help noticing though, is that you are more an observer than a doer - are your days of actually picking up girls over? (I hope this is not too much of a personal question.)

I know it moved at about that time, but as I wasn’t here I don’t know the details. When I hit the Blok in ‘98 the Club was already old and shabby, and it hasn’t changed over the last ten years.
